So At&T is no longer It’s bullshit – complete bullshit in order to facilitate a way to charge the end-user in the long run.
Sure go ahead and get the ‘power-user’ plan, if you think it’s really going to allow you to be one. What shit plan name – something to make you feel good about loosing a good thing.
“Ok so, they just want to cut out the people taking advantage of the unlimited plan by tethering their PC’s”
Get real people – if your going to use an excuse like that to justify the end of the ‘unlimited’ your insane. What’s so different compared to getting broadband Internet? I currently pay more for my smart phone unlimited plan than I do for my broadband access. How does that make sense? Phone? Shiiiit…I could add digital phone to my service and still probably pay less every month.
If my provider (*cough” Verizon Wireless “cough*) decides to implement something like AT&T does – I will drop VERIZONS service.
I encourage everyone else to do the same with their providers when these ‘new’ plans hit the waves – its bullshit.
Well, since I was introduced to a hacker named John/802.11/WiFi long ago (less than two years ago) my life has gone from Clandestine-Hide-in-My-Box Hacker to Social-Hacker-from-Hell. I was asked to go to a hacker conference that I’d never heard of on The Very Angry Toad. I met Circuitbomb and GraphiK as well as Myself248 (who has since become a mentor of sorts).
Later, I was given the helm of Cheer10s: A Flyninja Project and Underground Syndicate. It became my sole job to keep news up for the Hacker-minded. I started going to school for Electronics Assembly and Engineering (since moving on with a certificate to another school Computer Programming). I staffed at Notacon5 and The Last HOPE as security.
Now, I’m working on some projects that are still in the planning stages as well as planned for Notacon6 in the background stage because I couldn’t afford to go. VeryAngryToad is working to come back online and Flyninja is making a major breakthrough. Cheer10s is no longer a Flyninja Project being self-supporting. I am also a VIP at GoNullYourself.org as a contributor to projects yet to come.
So, since I met John/802.11/WiFi (Whatever the fuck he called himself!!!) and he called me to VAT, he’s turned me around. He’s turned me into a Hacker that isn’t afraid to fight for my rights or isn’t afraid to say “I’m a Hacker and I Hack Shit and You’ll Never Stop Me and Thanks for the Secks Early 90s Printer and……” I’ll never shut up at this pace.
In recent news the Canadian Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare gamer Brandon Crisp was found dead after running away from home when his parents decided it was high time to snatch his Xbox 360 game console on the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday. They took it from him because it was supposedly getting in the way of his responsibilities and school work etc…
An addict so to speak.
Let me just go on to say, that, as much as I feel remorse for Brandons family and friends for their loss and suffering. Who in the hell is going to get the blame here? Will Microsoft or Infinity Ward/Activision? Or the parents? I think it would be safe to assume that people will be going on about how these “evil games” and this incident is proof that violent video games should be banned. Let’s not forget to mention that with games having the ability to social interact through mediums such as Xbox Live and the internet a force of social belonging stretching into an addiction is almost certainty.
I don’t want want to be the harbinger of bad news…but anybody who blames “the game” is weak minded.
Let’s look at the facts here, Brandon was obviously an avid gamer, who particularly liked Call of Duty 4 which is a VERY popular online multiplayer FPS game available on Xbox, PS3 and PC. CoD4 was released in November of 2007 with an ESRB rating of M, meaning it’s rating was set for “mature” players and people. Brandon Crisp was 15 years old. He wouldn’t even be able to get into an R rated movie by himself. A kid who screams he’s going to run away because his console has been taken, if you ask me, is not made from “mature” cloth.
From another perspective, Brandon’s father, after getting the running away threat from his son, decided to ‘call his bluff; by helping him pack his bags and let him leave.
What the fuck.
I’m a father. I would never help my child leave in anger in an attempt to call her bluff. Never, and I mean never should a parent seem to encourage such an act. Shit, a child/teen would be more inclined to think of it like his parents don’t care and don’t want them, obviously making the situation worse.
Why not just take the video game away? Why not just cut the Xbox Live subscription? Parents you have to realize that todays consoles don’t only play video games, they are entertainment systems which play DVD’s, CD’s, stream television and other types of media. You can watch picture slideshows straight off your computer. So the real question is, did he throw the fit because the ability to play his game was taken, or was it because his entertainment was being taken.
If you ask me Brandon Crisp’s parents should of been more involved in his activities at the start of his interest, and kept a watchful eye on what was going on, instead of what seems to have been a passive one.
Let me know what you all think.
Anyways I hope you all got out there and did your voting as good sheep do. You won’t be counting mine. Anyways here’s a little something for you to enjoy while you wait for the precious results from the election here in the good old United States.
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how smart the Mayans were and how their calendar ends December 21 2012 and we’re all gonna die… I just read an awesome article completely debunking it.
This article basically says that the Mayan calendar is written out in a sequence of numbers that reminds me of an IP address:
It is written in a base twenty system with five placeholders, meaning each of the five sections range from 0-19. The supposed apocalyptic date will read 18.104.22.168.0, not what logic would dictate the ‘end’ should be according to their numbering system (22.214.171.124.19).
Websites like 2012endofdays.org say things like “They also had an incredible understanding of time and space. Various calendars were in use to track time in linear progressions within cycles.”
Jump over to wikipedia and you’ll read things like “The end of the Calendar Round was a period of unrest and bad luck among the Maya, as they waited in expectation to see if the gods would grant them another cycle of 52 years.”
“The Maya practiced human sacrifice. In some Maya rituals people were killed by having their arms and legs held while a priest cut the person’s chest open and tore out his heart as an offering. This is depicted on ancient objects such as pictorial texts, known as codices (singular: codex). It is believed that children were often offered as sacrificial victims because they were believed to be pure.”
Congratulations to everyone for telling me about and believing a half-assed end of days prophecy based around an ancient civilization that not only largely collapsed over a thousand years ago, but that killed children and worshiped an entity that can literally be translated as “Corn God”. Don’t believe me?

For those who care, but don’t watch:
The good: There’s a project in the works at the FCC to bring us all free wireless internet. The bad and the ugly: they want to launch it with content filtering already mandated and built in, using the porn excuse. Much dick-hammering by free speech groups ensues. (Arstechnica)
The free speech complaint is this: The technology is denial of the right to broadcast content to the public. Once that mechanism is in place and standardized to the public, they could start blocking Indymedia.us and Infoshop.org for example, with the flick of a FISA pen. Poof gone, only paying customers (and maybe not even those) could see those sites again.
Speaking of poof gone, this next one cracks me up. Says Chicken Little, the ex-big-telecom Commissioner of the FCC: If the government can control how businesses provide the internet, in any way, the internet will vanish. Corporate shill, often? (Broadband Reports) Is it me or does that sound more like a threat than a prediction?
And it’s a spineless, empty threat at that. Nobody will ever take the internet away – too many people make too much money via nothing but. It’s a backbone of international trade. It’s not going to “go away” just because Comcast isn’t allowed to throttle speeds.
