The Codex Gigas – The Devil’s Bible
I love language. Not enough to learn to speak 100 languages, but I love written text. My physical book collection consists of over 100 books. I have books ranging from the occult, deep theology, right down to TCP/IP and SQL. I love old books. Included in my collection is a leather bound edition of Ralph Waldo Emmerson’s Nature, and a Dictionary and Cyclopedia of Freemasonry dated 1858. You don’t even want to know the size of my digital text and book collection, but I had to buy a sizable external drive when it started taking up to much space.
This post is not about the books of my own collection, however.
It’ about The Codex Gigas(Giant Book) or The Devils Bible. This text is reputed to be one of the largest surviving European manuscripts dating back to medieval times. The author of the text is unknown and an inscription within the text states i was pawned to a Monastary in 1295. A popular legend about the book states it was written by one person, with the help of the devil because of it’s enormous size.
Here is the link to the Official Website of the Codex Gigas, where you can look deeper into the book.
